This classic book, penned in the 1800's by an author known only as "F.M." should be a "must read" for every believing Christian. The entire book literally bleeds the love of Christ, as the author delves deep into both the wandering human spirit and the unfathomable love of God. The book begins with the question posed in Proverbs: ''A wounded spirit who can bear?" The agony of unrequited love, the extra pain felt when wounds are from a friend-and a trusted friend at that-are powerfully employed to remind readers of how God feels when the human backs which He died to save are so frequently turned on Him. Adding insult to injury is the fact that even those who love God frequently "go away," too burdened by guilt to think they can ever come back, yet in the process wounding Christ once again. The ache that God feels for us, His pleas for our love, His desire to shield us and gift us with happiness, are all described in such tender, yearning terms that any open-hearted soul couldn't help but be drawn to Christ. Though the language is older, the vibrant experience of a passion for Christ as portrayed in this book is fresh and new. A highly inspirational book, "Wounded in the House of His Friends" will, if read, surely inspire readers to love Jesus more.
