Once your kids are born the wheels in your head instantly start turning. You declare from that moment forward that your kids will live a “GOOD LIFE” and they’ll have everything you never had. Although your intentions are pure you never stop to think about the impacts of your aspirations! At times, this task is extremely difficult because you want to break unhealthy cycles, but you’re not entirely sure how to accomplish that. This is especially true when it comes to preparing kids to be world explorers. Every parent visualizes their child being SUCCESSFUL, but lack of knowledge and exposure causes some parents to develop a one-track mind! Whatever process they’ve seen work in the past becomes their go to method. Many parents get so set on doing things their way that they disregard what options might work best for their child. Their imagination only goes as far as what they’ve been EXPOSED to. This is where the issues begin! I've heard many stories from the students that I've mentored about their parent’s behavior regarding life after high school. Most parents have subscribed to the idea that “COLLEGE” is the only way to be successful, but this is so far from the truth. Learning a trade, joining the workforce, the military or becoming an entrepreneur are all GREAT OPTIONS as well but parents don’t always acknowledge this truth. The number one issue I hear students talk about is the total disregard for their feelings about school. Many of them have said, “No one asked me if I even wanted to attend college. They just told me I was going!” Hearing their stories made me reflect on how my mother reacted when the time came for me to start college. I believe my mother did everything she could to make my transition successful. While she did an amazing job, there were a few things she couldn't prepare me for since she never experienced college life herself. Unfortunately, everyone doesn’t get the same level of exposure, so I’ve made it my mission to empower and enlighten parents! I want every parent to be a beacon of light and a wealth of knowledge for their kids! This book shares concepts, transition techniques, and activities that introduce the characteristics of being a solid support system. These principles provide guidance and helpful tools for you to assist your child in making a smooth transition through college and life.
