"The Dawn of a new era" is a political satire that presents the level of corruption and moral decadance that is plaguing many African states today. The play having the contemporary Nigerian spacio-geographical and time setting satirizes using irony and sarcasm to correct the vices of the society. The diction used in the play is simple and the characters are symbolic. Isn't it ironical that a nation that leans heavily on youths empower such youths wih wheelbarrows and a sum of #5,000, a money that could barely upkeep a mini family. It is a common saying that when the hunter chases the hare to a tight end, it might turn and chase the hunter. One would be marvelled at how the playwright uses the youths' revolt to navigate the plot of the play to a reasonable shore. And in line with our recent past in Nigeria, that is, the youths' struggle for better governance, one would not help but admit that the playwright is a prophet. Here is a book you will return to over and over again, not just because of the subtle and humorous way of passing pungent messages, but because here is a piece that pictures the reality of many African states, and a call to wake for true revolution which will end the over tarrying bad governance and corrupt practices.
