The Joliet Area Historical Museum is pleased to announce a commemorative book which relives the inspiring story of the Joliet Township High School Band Program and its significant role in Joliet’s history, as well as its influence on national music education. The Progressive movement of the late 19th & early 20th centuries allowed the growing middle-class better access to an education. The formation of bands promoted a sense of nationalism; it also fostered character, promoted a healthy leisure activity and formed a safe atmosphere for socialization.
