English Summary: Knight and saint, warrior and monk. Those extremes define the life of the holy Wibert of Gembloux in Vita Wicberti. Sigebert of Gemblouxs (1112) text stands as an impressive monument of the founder of the monastery Gembloux. He combines traditional motifs of the hagiography and the phenomenon of chivalry, and creates something completely new in the person of the Templar. Destined to be a knight, the saint abdicates violence, donates his belongings to church, founds the monastery Gembloux, becomes a monk, and fights with a sword as a knight of God against thieves and pagans. Vita Wicberti is the first Latin biography of a knight. This book includes the whole hagiographic OEuvre of Wibert in a new critical edition. For the first time, Sigeberts Wibertoffizium (Divine Office) is available in a critical and commented edition besides his resume, a report on his elevation, and collection of his miracles. In addition, an extensive historical and philological comment expands on Sigeberts works. German Description: Ritter und Heiliger, Krieger und Monch. Sigebert von Gembloux ( 1112) hat dem Grunder seines Heimatklosters mit diesem Text ein beeindruckendes Denkmal gesetzt. Er verbindet traditionelle Motive der Hagiographie mit dem Phanomen des Rittertums und entwirft im frommen Monchsritter Wibert etwas ganz Neues. Zum Krieger bestimmt entsagt der Heilige der Gewalt, spendet seinen Besitz der Kirche, grundet Gembloux, wird Monch und kampft fortan als Ritter Gottes mit dem Schwert des Glaubens gegen Rauber und Heiden. Die 'Vita Wicberti' ist die erste lateinische Ritterbiographie. Das Buch versammelt das gesamte hagiographische OEuvre zu Wibert in einer neuen, kritischen Edition. Neben Vita, Elevationsbericht und Mirakelsammlung liegt auch Sigeberts Wibertoffizium erstmals in einer kritischen und kommentierten Fassung vor. Ein umfangreicher historischer und philologischer Kommentar erlautert die Werke.
