Patton wrote; In a complete and practical education of American youth, it is fitting that the stud} of Political Keonomy should hold an honored place, inasmuch as this branch of knowledge, so suggestive in its main principles, is valuable to both sexes-in the active duties of life. It is but recently that the study of the principles of Political Economy has been given its proper place in the curriculum of our secondary schools and colleges. This is a movement in the right direction. Our American 3outh should study our social and industrial conditions. Economic conditions are constantly changing, and, consequently. Economic Science is and must be one of slow but continuous growth. It is incumbent upon the teacher, the legislator and the citizen to become acfjuainted with the spirit and meaning of social and economic institutions. These Outlines and Questions are iutended to be suggestive, and to be used as supplementary to some good text-book. The author believes that any outline that sevves to suggest definition and material, and directs the student in his researches, has an educational function. ,W ith a hope that this little pamphlet will serve this purpose, it is commended to the consideration of teachers and students.
