Trist, Esq., of New Orleans, La.; and as now extended and simplified theW hist world is indebted toM r. Henry Jones, M. R. C. S. (C avendish ), of London, England. The purpose of this volume is to present to the student of the game the rules and maxims of play as laid down by the authorities, and practiced by the strongest players. And an effort has been made to simplify and render clear the applications of the many rules and maxims by copious analyses and numerous illustrations. Much space has been devoted to the play of second hand, the intricacies of end-play, the department of inference and to the management of trumps.
