Meteorology is a sub-discipline of the atmospheric sciences that is focused on weather forecasting. It encompasses the fields of atmospheric physics and atmospheric chemistry. The science of meteorology seeks to explain observable weather events, and quantifies these in terms of temperature, air pressure, mass flow, water vapour, their interactions and change with respect to time.
