The emergence of the "General Armorial noble families of Russian Empire" is associated with the reform conducted by Paul I in the noble families of heraldry. It is a manifesto of Paul I on January 20, 1797 marked the beginning of the legal establishment of Russian and Little Russian coat of arms. Drawing "Armorial General" was carried out in accordance with the approved Paul I structure. It is divided into three sections: the first were placed the arms titled and old-nobility names (ie. At the end of each volume were placed alphabetical indexes of births and persons whose emblems were in this volume. Also stored in the RSHA and the so-called twenty-first volume, which made 61 coat of arms, the Senate approved the Provisional Government from June 1 to November 22, 1917. "General Armorial noble families of Russian Empire" is an important source for the history of Russian nobility and heraldry is an outstanding monument to the applied and fine arts.
