You are being housed in a detention facility operated or contracted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). You will probably stay at the facility until: • Your immigration case is decided; • You are ordered to be removed from the country; or, • You are transferred to another facility. It is your responsibility to read this handbook to learn about: • Your responsibilities and rights as a detainee; • Programs and services available to you; • Rules you must follow; • Procedures for common situations; and • How to report problems and file complaints. This handbook provides only a summary of important information and does not cover all rights and requirements related to your stay at the facility. You will also receive a handbook from your facility that explains its local rules. It is important that you understand and follow the rules in both handbooks. If you lose this handbook, you are entitled to one replacement. Copies will be available for reference at the law library and in the housing units, or may be requested from facility staff. If you need help understanding this handbook, tell a staff member at your facility or an ICE officer. If you do not read or understand English, you have the right to receive important information in a language or format you understand or to have someone explain it to you in simpler terms. Tell an officer if you need assistance.
