Angela Flake has always had a way with words and this writing is no different. Her goal for this short book is to inspire young readers of color to be bold, unique, and motivated no matter what life has told them. Each poem is designed to open your mind and allow room for the reader to share how they feel and how they see themselves in each poem. Poetry is apart of our Black History and has long been a way of communication, whether in our communities, in slavery, in times of unrest, or to celebrate our strength. We must not forget how important these various forms of communication have brought us together.
