A Branch to Africa
A Branch to Africa is the story of a group of Black American business people, politicians and working class people who make a case for reparations, with the purpose of buying a piece of land in Africa to establish a homeland called New Maroon. The story follows the lives of Senator Jordan who is making the political case and Marcus Jefferson, a middle class man who must decide between his fairly comfortable yet limited job and the potential for what may exist in New Maroon. The novel explores the practical aspect of reparations, along with how the American public may view such an initiative. It also looks at the economic and political aspects of such a move, as it would require an enormous amount of investment and support from both political parties.
