Typee, the first book by Herman Melville, about his adventures on the South Pacific Marquesas Islands. Instead, noways the famous book by Herman Melville is Moby Dick, the story of an obsessive search for the GREAT White Whale, by Captain Ahab, who seeks revenge because the whale had eaten his leg. Why anybody would seek revenge against a poor animal is difficult to understand. The whale was hungry so naturally he ate Ahab's leg! Moby Dick has been reprinted many times and made into movies and even comic books. It is considered to be a religious allegory where man seeks the meaning of life and death. Meanwhile, Typee has lain virtually forgotten. The reason will become obvious when you compare this book with other editions of the same book:
