The principle of seven degrees of separation is alive and well in LJ Harris's new novel, Strand of Redemption which is also the sequel to "Between the Lies--Revisited" (the updated version to the now out-of-print "Between the Lies.". Now, we find sisters Erika Marselle and Lydia Matthews struggling to make their lives work once again since Braxton's sudden, untimely death and the unexpected miscarriage; as well as Lydia's mind-blowing, dalliance-turn affair with a real player. Unnerved that fate was not through with its cruel trick--e.g., forcing them to live in such close proximity of the person who attempted the vicious fraud against Erika and still, is clearly up to no good--schemer, Silvia Marselle, the deceased Braxton's surprise ex--was not through. Skilled surgical, gynecological specialist, Eli Morrison treated Erika's surprised pregnancy and miscarriage, thus virtually saving her life, later expresses a keen personal interest in his new patient--and she appears to be warming up as well. But she doesn't realize that there is still unfinished business in her life regarding Braxton's tragic death and the person(s) responsible for the bullets fired through his car window. Lydia rekindles her bond with ex-husband, Aaron, who now visits frequently for Jackson's sake and offers a surprise announcement. The two Matthews men unwittingly uncover key information needed to bring Aunt Erika's some much needed closure regarding her dearly departed loved one. Also, an old face connected with the talented surgical specialist returns to the D.C. by way of a Maryland half-way house, after being away for more than twenty years, an evolution of sorts is invoked, and unwelcomed answers to long unresolved unasked questions all around bubble to the surface. As the clock ticks, clarity slowly materializes, bringing all parties involved to inevitable truths and revelations that once again profoundly make its mark on several lives forever.
