It attempts to serve as a suitable text on the subject and meet the needs of the students of BE/B.Tech, M.Sc (electronics), M.Sc (IT), M.Tech, MCA, B.Sc (electronics) and diploma in electronics of all Indian universities. This book uses plain, lucid language to explain fundamentals of the subject and provides logical method of explaining various complicated concepts, and stepwise methods to explain the important topics. Each chapter is well supported with necessary illustrations, practical examples and solved problems. All the chapters in the book have been arranged in a proper sequence that permits each topic to build upon earlier studies. Many of the examples and problems have been selected from recent question papers of various universities and engineering examinations. The importance of microprocessors is well known in various fields of engineering and this has led to the enhanced demand for courses dealing with microprocessors and interfacing devices. This book contains 1 0 chapters with comprehensive discussion of text material in a systematic and elaborative manner. Chapter 1 explains the history of microprocessors and the companies associated with them. Chapter 2 gives the details of basic digital concepts in a systematic manner. A large number of programming examples based on assembly language is given in Chapters 3 and 5 for both 8085 and 8086 microprocessors. Chapters 6 to 9 discuss interfacing devices with their architecture and pin configuration. The details of Pentium processors have been discussed in Chapter 10. An outstanding feature of the book is the large number of assembly language programming examples which will help the students to familiarize with programming. This book also includes a number of viva voce questions.
