JEWS AND SAMARITANS: AN ANALYSIS OF THE POLITICAL AND THEOLOGICAL CONFLICT FROM JOHN 4.6-30. A CONTRIBUTION TO IOW L OGO Cato LICO-PENTECOSTAL, This dissertation seeks, from the study of the political and religious conflict between Jews and Samaritans, manifested in John 4, to formulate a contribution to the Catholic Pentecostal dialogue. It seeks a historical and theological approach to the conflicting situation between the two ethnic groups in the biblical environment, especially in the first century in the context of the New Testament. In chapter 4 of the Gospel of John, the Johannine community narrates an encounter between Jesus and an anonymous Samaritan woman, and how this narrative transformed and changed this situation between the groups, which ended up being part of the same community of faith. This research seeks to understand how this environment of conflict developed historically, which since the Old Testament period has moved into the environment of the Johannine Community of the New Testament. Also studying the explicit and implicit theological aspects in the narrative, it aims to raise elements that can contribute to the overcoming of conflicts and to the deepening of the dialogue between Catholic and Pentecostal groups, which on Brazilian soil have developed in many contexts and situations a relationship of conflict, which rooted in the memory, history and the theology of those involved, it has hindered the development of the Dialogue between Catholics and Pentecostals. However, this dialogue, although still quite timid and barely audible, is already a reality in several manifestations of these faith communities. With the study of the dialogue between Jesus and the Samaritan woman in the fourth chapter of the Gospel of John, this dissertation hopes to present bases that allow advances in this dialogue, which is still just beginning on Brazilian soil.
