Gott der Herr ist Sonn und Schild: Kantate zum Reformationsfest
Neben der weitbekannteren Kantate "Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott" BWV 80 ist "Gott, der Herr, ist Sonn und Schild" BWV 79 die einzige weitere Kantate Bachs fr das Reformationsfest. Groe Bekanntheit auch auerhalb der Kantate erlangte aber ihr zentraler Choralsatz "Nun danket alle Gott", der ganz durch die eingngige Melodik der beiden durchlaufenden Hornstimmen mit Zeilenzwischenspielen geprgt ist. Diese wiederum sind dem choralfreien Eingangschor entnommen und bilden somit eine berraschende Klammer zwischen freiem Chorsatz und Choral. Chor und beide Arien der Kantate finden sich spter in lateinischer Parodie in den sogenannten "Lutherischen Messen" wieder.
